In the early 1980’s, Missouri Public Service (MPS) had the water system serving Clinton, Mo. for sale. In 1983, the decision was made to form a 501-C4 not-for-profit corporation and purchase the water system from MPS. A five member Board of Directors were chosen consisting of the City Administrator and four other citizens of Clinton approved by the City Council. In November 1983 Henry County Water Company began operation of the water system.
HCWC is a general non-profit corporation organized and existing pursuant to the General Not-For-Profit Corporation Law of the State of Missouri, Chapter 355, Revised Statutes of Missouri, as amended, formed for the purpose of promotion of the common good and general welfare of the City of Clinton, Henry County, Missouri, and its inhabitants by providing water in sufficient quantities for the use if the inhabitants of the City and the county surrounding the City.
HCWC’s funds (after expenses) are put to use for capital improvements such as a 750,000 gallon tower in 1994, a new water plant and intake in 1999, 2 –12” loops to the hospital and the east side of Clinton, renovation of both water towers in 2017 and numerous other water line system improvements.
Henry County Water Company provides customer service and billing services to Henry County PWSD#3.
Henry County PWSD#3 started serving customers in the late 1990’s and is comprised by a five member Board of Directors elected by the people of Henry County living in the water district #3 territory.
Henry County Water Company and Henry County PWSD#3 contract with Alliance Water Resources to provide full-service management, operations, and maintenance. Alliance Water Resources is a leading provider of professional operations and maintenance services for community water and wastewater systems, serving communities in Missouri and surrounding states.
